WHY LIME?
1. Destiny: We want to use our creative, entrepreneurial and financial gifts to help people in need. 2. Synergy: We believe we can do more as a team than by ourselves, thus LIME is created as network of friends working together. 3. Ownership: While there are many wonderful non-profits existing, we want to invest in something we can influence. We believe the closer we are to the projects the more our ownership will increase. 4. Non-Church: We believe there are people who will give to a philanthropic non-profit who will not give to the church. 5. Philanthropy: We believe we can more effectively encourage our personal networks into philanthropy if we have something trustworthy they can invest in. 6. Screening: By working with smaller mission groups where personal relationships are established we can ensure that our money is being invested for maximum impact. We provide a service to our network of donors by giving them well-screened opportunities to do philanthropic investment. 7. Return on Investment: Or bang for the buck…the more directly you can give to frontlines, the more money gets to the real need and the less is consumed by administrative overhead. 8. Adventure Opportunities: We can provide mission and ministry excursions that business people and their friends or families can participate in, thus allowing them to serve and to expose them to need and to have great fun. 9. Passion Outlet: We believe there are people on our board and in our networks who have gifts, talents, and passions that could be given an open door through the work of LIME. 10. Legacy: To provide opportunities to invest in things that matter, that make a difference, that last, that carry on after you are gone, that produce eternal reward. Key Principles of LIME 1. Every blessing (health, time, talent, treasure, relationship) comes from God. James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven's lights. Unlike them, he never changes or casts shifting shadows. 1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 2. Every blessing carries a responsibility with it. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. Luke 12:48".Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." 3. God has a great love for people in spiritual and physical need, especially the poor and oppressed. Luke 3:11 John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Luke 14:13-14 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." 4. God uses people to do His work. Matthew 25:44-45 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' 5. God is doing good for people outside of that which is overtly Christian. Matthew 5:45 ".He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. 6. We were created to work together in relationships with other Christians. Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: 1 Corinthians 12:20-21 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 7. You can never out-give God. Proverbs 11:24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" 8. Generosity brings a reward now and forever. Proverbs 11:25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 22:9 A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." 2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 9. Spiritual goals are the most important goals in life. Luke 9:25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? Luke 12:19-21 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."' "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God." 10. Every person is created to fulfill an important destiny. Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
